Ducted Air Conditioning Systems
1. How a ducted system works
A ducted system can provide total air conditioned comfort
throughout your existing or new home.
The indoor unit is usually located in the ceiling space with
flexible ductwork distributing conditioned air through grilles
located in chosen areas throughout the home; the compressor
(outdoor unit) is installed outside the home.
2. Types of systems
The two types of systems that are generally offered are
"Inverter" or "Fixed speed" (sometimes called "non inverter").
The Inverter system is more technically advanced, with
features such as an inverter compressor which works like the
accelerator of a car, gently increasing or decreasing power. It
reaches the desired temperature quicker and steadily maintains
it without wild fluctuations. That means uninterrupted comfort
and significant energy savings.
3. Sizing your ducted air conditioning system
The size of the air conditioner required to air condition a
home is usually calculated by working out the cooling load of
the largest area required to be air conditioned during the
hottest time of the day (i.e. the worst case scenario).
Most families will not be occupying all rooms of the home at
one time, so this enables us to "zone" the system to allow areas
to be turned off if they are not needed. Zoning helps us reduce
the size of the air conditioner needed, as well as save power.
